The band was formed by Wendy Robinson (vocals) and Polly Hancock (vocals, guitar), initially with a drum machine. This line-up recorded the debut "Don't Go Back" EP on Big Cat UK in August 1988 achieving "Single of the Week" in Melody Maker.

USA 1986 SST Records – SST 087- Lawndale is an alternative surf rock instrumental band from Lawndale. The band was started in 1984 by guitar players and bassmen Rick Waddell, AKA Rick Lawndale and Jack Skelley and released two records on SST Records and some tracks on compilations. They split in 1987 but Rick Lawndale started it again in 1997 under the moniker Rick Lawndale Band with other musicians. "Interstellar Caravan" is a juxtaposition of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" and Duke Ellington's "Caravan". "'Atta Boy, Luther!" based on Don Knotts' character, Luther Heggs, from "The Ghost and Mister Chicken." Recorded 1985 and 1986, Radio Tokyo Studios, Venice, California. Lawndale: "Because Some Things Just Can't be Put into Words"
